- DIGITAL EEG: This is
a non-invasive and painless diagnostic test utilizing eletrodes placed on the scalp to measure brain waves. It is used to
evaluate for the possibility of seizures.
- LONG TERM VIDEO EEG: This is similar to the EEG but longer and with simultaneous
video monitoring. Traditionally, it is performed for 24 or more hours in the hospital. The goal is to "capture"
a seizure in order determine the type and location and whether it really is a seizure.
- LONG TERM AMBULATORY
VIDEO EEG: This is similar to the long term video EEG but with special equipment, your child is allowed to go home to be monitored.
- NOCTURNAL POLYSOMNOGRAM (SLEEP STUDY): This is an overnight study which includes measurements of the EEG, EKG,
breathing, chest and abdominal movement, oxygen saturation and limb movements in order to diagnose sleep abnormalities such
as sleep apnea or periodic limb movement disorder.
- ACTIGRAPHY. This is a watch like device worn on the wrist
for 1 or 2 weeks which is able to detect the exact times that you are awake and asleep in order to help diagnose various sleep
problems such as insomnia and circadian rhythm disorders.
- INFANT DEVELOPMENTAL TESTING: These are specialized
developmental tests such as the Bailey Scale of Infant Development and autism screening evaluations, designed to evaluate
early infant and childhood development.
- NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL AND PSYCHO-EDUCATIONAL TESTING. These include IQ
and academic acheivement tests designed to help diagnose and address specific learning disabilities in children, performed
by fully qualified and highly trained Pediatric Neuropsychologists.
- ImPACT TESTING (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment
and Cognitive Testing). This includes tests of memory, concentration and reaction time to help assess the severity of
concussions and when it is adviseable to return to play.
